Dr. Curtis is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with children and adolescents. She received her bachelors degree from U.C. Santa Cruz with a major in psychology, and her masters degree and doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, with an emphasis in children and families. Dr. Curtis’s pre- and post-doc internships included the Center for Autism Research Evaluation and Service, Neighborhood Healthcare, Rady’s Children’s Hospital Outpatient Psychiatry, and Mental Health Systems.
Dr. Curtis’s current clinical practice specializes in psychological assessment & testing across the lifespan, as well as limited availability for individual and family counseling with children and adolescents. The most common diagnoses that Dr. Curtis works with to rule in/out with psych testing are Autism, ADHD, Intellectual Disability, Developmental Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Anxiety, and Depression. Dr. Curtis has extensive experience in these areas, working in clinics specializing in Autism and other developmental disabilities for over 15 years.
Dr. Curtis has been involved in a variety of research projects. Her dissertation, The Relationship Between Joint Attention and Language Acquisition in Children with Autism, was a longitudinal study of expressive language development.
Dr. Curtis is also involved in ongoing research at UC San Diego as a developmental neuropsychologist, studying the effects of Suramin on Autism symptoms in children. The Phase I/II study was published in July, 2017.
Dr. Curtis has lived in North County San Diego for 20+ years. She lives locally with her husband and two young daughters. For self-care, she enjoys reading, swimming, gardening, and sometimes a quick trip up to Disneyland with her family.
